This track is one the most experimental on the record I feel. I really wanted to explore more traditional loud, clean and almost operatic vocal techniques. I think this is as a result of the influence of vocalists like Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden and Devin Townsend of Strapping Young Lad. That sort of approach is really fun to perform and adds a bit of dynamic range to a composition that is otherwise quite harsh in terms of vocal style.
I also feel the guitar solo is a highlight. Although not particularly technical, it has a sense of melancholic drama that I’m quite proud of. Almost “The end of an era” type feel to it.
You can check out the track here, and do plug in some headphones or play it through decent speakers. You’ll miss a lot if you just use your mobile speaker, particularly in the bass frequencies :
This track is all about the use of media, mis-information and fear campaigns and how its become a central form of Warfare in many leading nations around the world.
We now have 3 tracks from Metallica’s forthcoming album 72 Seasons to enjoy in the lead up to Release of the band’s 11th Studio Album due out in April this year.
Check out the opening track from my forthcoming record: Reshaping The Human Condition. This track centres around freedom of speech and the active suppression of ideas in the mainstream media and social media climates of today. Hope you all enjoy it.
Finally after 3 years of hard work and strife, my new record is done and out in the wild for you all to listen to and hopefully enjoy. Here’s the first taster.
The album deals with the topic of cancel culture and woke culture and its complete ignorance of history, Language and morality as well as it’s utter disrespect for our elders… 😆 Fun times we live in eh?
This particular track however is a little more focused on people’s mental health during the lock downs and who stood to profit from the pandemic.
Look out for the next 9 tracks in the coming weeks. If you like what you hear, please consider subscribing to my YouTube channel and perhaps even visiting Apple music, Spotify or Amazon music etc to stream or download. It’ll go a long way to help me continue as a creator and writer. Thanks!
I love Metallica. Always have. I respect the way they tend to just forge ahead in whatever way they see fit for themselves and often James’s in particular is fearless in his self expression.
That last point really shows in his lyrics for this track. However I feel like the actual harmonic and rhythmic structures of this song fail to live up to the title and thematic content of the track itself.
If you want to listen to my initial reactions in more detail you can check out my video on the subject here…
